Bortrag von Máté Herner (Fribourg CH)

A famous core thesis of the Timaeus, Plato’s only cosmological dialogue, is that our world is one single living being, with its own body and soul and its own, cosmic life. This talk is an extract from my larger project of developing a systematic interpretation of the different aspects of Timaean“cosmobiology”, where I show that, beyond the commonly recognised cosmic life-functions, a close reading of the text reveals the presence of a further one: a peculiar, cosmic form of physiology. To support my interpretation, I will evoke the cosmology of a contemporary medical text, the De Victu.
